Professional Accomplishments

• James Zehmer, project manager with Capital Construction & Renovations’s Historic Preservation team, is the co-author of the first essay in a newly-published book titled, “Educated in Tyranny: Slavery at Thomas Jefferson’s University.”

Noted with Regret

• Nellie Hoffman, who worked in Newcomb Zone Custodial Services, died August 10. Nellie had worked at UVA for 17 years.
• Stephen Byers, who worked as an electrician in HSPP Renovations, died July 7. Stephen had worked at UVA for two years.
