Daniel Nyce, senior trades utility technician in Health System Physical Plant Zone 1 South, was recently nominated for UVA Health's Being Excellent Everyday (BEE) Award. He was recognized by the Acute Cardiology department for his prompt response to a door issue on their wing. “His persistence in getting the door fixed was an integral part to patient satisfaction as a new mom unfortunately was here with their newborn and needed the ability to provide a quiet environment,” said the nomination. “Thank you, Daniel for your hard work!”

Zach Brackett and Patrick Connolly: I wanted to thank you both for reaching out to Environmental Resources (specifically Dawson Garrod) recently to seek guidance regarding a contractor imminently planning to use chemicals to wash the roof at O'Hill Dining without measures in place to capture and properly dispose of the wash water. Your quick action to stop the work before these chemicals passed from the roof drains to the storm sewer and into Lodge Creek prevented adverse impacts to aquatic life and avoided a non-compliance situation with the University's stormwater permit. I appreciate your attention to the potential environmental impacts of our construction activities. Thanks again! - Kristin Carter, Associate Director for Environmental Resources
