Connie Walters, finance associate in Finance, retired June 27 after 35 years of service. She first came to UVA in 1990, working as a lab aide and technician in the Department of Environmental Sciences and later as a temp at UVA Bookstore. She then joined Facilities Management as a fiscal technician in what was then known as Cost Accounting. Walters supported invoice processing, including utility invoices, and later transitioned to support construction projects. During her time processing invoices, her office phone number was on all of FM's packing slips/shipping invoices so often truck drivers would call Walters asking for directions for FM deliveries. Over the years, the finance associate has worked in three different systems - CAPPS, Oracle, and Workday - and adjusted her processes away from paper-based to fully automated electronic systems.
