UVA honors its veterans during annual breakfast
The University of Virginia Military Veterans Employee Resource Group (UVA Mil Vets) hosted its annual breakfast to thank military veterans at UVA for their service.
Health System Physical Plant Associate Director Nina Green, a member of the UVA Mil Vets advisory group, welcomed everyone to the Nov. 8 event before University President Jim Ryan addressed the veterans in attendance.
“I know UVA is a better place because of what you bring to it,” said Ryan, who attended the breakfast with Associate Vice President and Chief Facilities Officer Don Sundgren and other members of the UVA community. He mentioned his appreciation for the values and habits veterans bring from their military service to the University, something he observed his father, who was a veteran, do as well.
The event ended with a presentation by Mary Sherman, an employee assistant consultant for the Faculty Employee Assistance Program (FEAP), sharing the benefits and aid available for veterans who are employed at UVA.
