Page Fox, West Grounds Zone carpenter, retired Sept. 9 with 48 years of service. Page first started at UVA in 1974 as a temp in the furniture shop while he was still in high school. He joined Facilities Management full-time in 1977, working in various departments including the cabinet shop, carpenter shop (WC 21) and Central Grounds Zone before joining the West Grounds Zone. For 29 years, Page consistently worked on projects on the Lawn and was known for leaving his initials in inconspicuous places. Future generations doing major renovations on the Lawn will likely encounter the initials “PBF” and wonder who this skilled carpenter was.
Otis Hackett: I'm writing to share my sincere appreciation for Otis. His work ethic, commitment to excellence, creative thinking, project management skills, and can-do attitude is exemplary. I've worked with him on two recent projects and could not have been more pleased with the team approach and collaboration he takes to get the job done. The ID badge office renovation was a success as was the most recent West Davis wing office suite renovation. Otis takes pride in his work and it shows. —Sally LeBeau, Patient Experience Office
