Educational & Professional Accomplishments
Facilities Management recently celebrated 23 employees who participated in English classes with the UVA VISAS program this year. Read more about the April 29 end-of-year celebration.
Best Wishes to FM Retirees
Martha Creasy of the Finance department retired on April 29. Martha was with Facilities Management for 43 years and 40 of those years she was the primary billing contact for all fiscal roles across the University. Martha played an integral role in numerous large projects including transitioning FM's payroll from manual time cards to electric time cards and ultimately to Workday. Florine Early of FM Housekeeping retired on May 22. Florine was initially hired on April 1, 1976 and has worked the last 24 years in North Grounds supporting TJAG, Law School, Darden and the Miller Center.
Noted with Regret
Daniel Lindsey, a retiree of Facilities Management, died on May 15. He worked as a carpenter for HSPP Renovations for 15 years before retiring in 2013.
Walter Rogers, a retiree of Facilities Management, died on May 8. He retired from UVA in 2009 with 41 years of service. Walter joined the University as an electrician and was eventually promoted to maintenance superintendent in what was then known as Operations & Maintenance.
