Inclusive Excellence update March 2022

Teams are actively working on the FM Inclusive Excellence Action Plan
The Facilities Management Inclusive Excellence teams, Access + Success and Climate + Intergroup Relations, are actively meeting to achieve the goals defined in the FM Inclusive Excellence Plan (PDF). The plan is based on FM employee feedback from the March 2021 Inclusive Excellence Survey (PDF). Learn more about both on the FM DEI Inclusive Excellence webpage.
The Access + Success team is currently preparing to meet with UVA Human Resources business partners and recruitment representatives to better understand the hiring and promotion process through an equitable lens. The team will work together with other Inclusive Excellence representatives from the entire Senior Vice President for Operations area to identify successes, barriers and gaps to best serve employees together.
The Climate + Intergroup Relations team is meeting to focus on appreciation, recognition and collaboration at Facilities Management based on the great comments received in the IE Survey from employees. The team will be meeting this spring to identify and recommend actions that the department can take now, and longer-term goals that can be established to celebrate employees and appreciation at FM.
Updates regarding these teams, and the other three IE teams that will kick off this year, will be featured in the monthly On Grounds newsletter and the Occupational Programs Weekly Wrap Up newsletter, which also highlights DEI events and information about the many resource groups that are available to employees. These groups include the Military Service and Veteran Group, the Organization of Employees from Africa, the LGBT Committee, and the Black Faculty and Staff Group.
