More than 900 employees responded

The Facilities Management Inclusive Excellence Survey results are now available online. More than 900 anonymous responses were received from Facilities Management employees during the month of February.

Inclusive Excellence is a UVA-wide initiative to support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. The survey results will help the department work collaboratively to continue to improve the culture of Facilities Management and help create an action plan for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“We want to thank all of the employees that completed the survey, the managers/supervisors that supported it and the IE team that worked so hard to capture each employee’s response,” said Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist Emily Douglas. “This gave us substantial data to build the Inclusive Excellence plan for FM. Without these factors, the survey would not have been a success.”

Several of the survey questions included an “Other” field where respondents were able to type in additional comments related to the question. These additional comments were compiled and are included at the end of the survey results and organized by question. Each bullet is a summary of comments received, grouped by similarity.

Using the survey results, the planning team developed the FM Inclusive Excellence Plan that was approved by FM Directors and submitted to Senior Vice President for Operations Collette Sheehy to be incorporated into the plan for all groups in her area. This plan will then be submitted for final review and feedback from the UVA Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Once this feedback is received, the planning team will finalize and publish the plan and it will be shared with Facilities Management employees.
