Employee Council is Communication

Communication is essential to the success of all organizations, especially one as large and diverse as Facilities Management. The Employee Council is a channel for receiving and discussing employee ideas for improving relations and generally enhancing the University work environment. All FM Employee Council members now also serve as Facilities Management’s representatives or alternates on the University-wide Staff Senate.

Employee Council representatives are elected for two-year terms and represent 13 major areas within Facilities Management. Employees are encouraged to bring work-related issues to their representatives for discussion at bimonthly meetings. Employee Council meets the last Thursday of every other month in the Leake Building’s Upper Level Conference Room, 575 Alderman Road.

The minutes from each meeting are emailed out to all FM staff members as well as posted on bulletin boards and on the Meetings and Minutes page of this site.

Employee Council Supports Facilities Management Employees

Employee Council is instrumental in making positive changes for our employees. Guest speakers from Hoo’s Well, Parking & Transportation and other University and FM offices give Council the latest updates and resources. Council’s recent accomplishments include better lighting for safety, improved lunchroom facilities, a bike rack cover and a Hoo’s Well Boot Camp.

Employee Council Supports Our Community Involvement

Our Employee Council partners with University Community Relations on community outreach projects including the Back to School Supply Drive and Hoo’s for the Hungry Food Drive.
