President Ryan thanks FM staff

UVA president visits with Facilities Management teams

UVA President Jim Ryan visited a few Facilities Management teams Oct. 5, thanking staff for their hard work to support the University throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Earlier this week, I stopped by [Facilities Management shops] and got to meet some of the people who are keeping us safe across Grounds,” President Ryan said in his Oct. 8 UVA Weekly video. “It’s a remarkably talented and dedicated group of people doing an enormous amount of work that often goes unnoticed. So, if you see them around, please say thanks.”

President Ryan visited the Sign Shop, Utilities, Housing Facilities, Educational & General Custodial Services and the Systems Control Center.

Facilities Management staff meeting with President Ryan included (pictured above, from left): Specialty Trades Supervisor Sr. Warren “Hubba” Wood who presented the UVA president with a framed aerial photograph of Grounds that was printed by the Sign Shop; Utility Systems Distribution Manager Cameron Ratliff, Pipefitter/Steamfitters Marcus Klaton and Kristina Williams and Pipefitter/Steamfitter Assistants Anthony Williams and Rebekah Thompson, who spoke to President Ryan about their team’s work on UVA’s wastewater monitoring program; and E&G Custodial Services Associate Director Vibha Buckingham, Housing Custodial Zone Manager Tanyia Moore, Housekeeping Supervisors Michael Minor and Suada Herceg and Housekeeping Lead Worker Mary Jasper, who spoke to the UVA president about their teams enhanced cleaning protocols.
