In response to the University’s operational adjustments, Facilities Management employees have had to get creative to maintain operations with limited on-site staff. We will be highlighting different teams and their work to serve the University throughout this challenging time.

When called upon, several Custodial Services staff members have stepped up, serving in new and different roles as needed and doing their best to uplift the spirits of their fellow UVA community members.

Quality Control Inspectors Michael Pouliot and Deborah Palmer – who typically inspect spaces after our custodial crews have cleaned – are pitching in with general custodial needs in order to supplement reduced staff members on-site, including repairing equipment, disinfecting high-touch points, pulling trash and replacing paper and soap dispensers.

Custodial Services Worker Maggie Donohue has added a little extra to her normal cleaning routine, leaving cheerful notes to customers in the UVA Special Collections Library. “Shout out to the amazing Maggie Donohue for not only keeping our workspace disinfected, but for putting smiles on our faces everyday,” library staff shared on social media. “You are a gem and we appreciate your hard work and positive attitude!!”
