The North Grounds Recreation Center Expansion will be the first of three planned projects to improve existing Intramural Recreational facilities on University Grounds.

The project will include a new 33,000 SF addition with an aquatics facility/ 25 Yd. x 25M 10-lane pool, whirlpool, sauna, wet classroom; a mind-body multi-purpose fitness room and two squash courts. The existing facility accommodates a variety of IM Rec sports programs.

1,350 SF of renovations will include improvements to three existing racquetball courts, replacement of two squash courts for increased fitness area and minor improvements to lobby and social gathering spaces, enhancing the connection between the existing building and the new addition.

The new addition will be located to the west of the existing IM Rec Center building. The exterior materials palette for the new addition will complement the existing building, as well as other neighboring buildings in the North Grounds Precinct.

The building is to remain in operation during construction.
