University Hospital, a 608 bed facility with a Level 1 Trauma Center, was completed
in 1989. Due to the age of the existing roof, a replacement roof was required.
The replacement roof consists of a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roof that was
installed on all the upper roofs. All of the lower roofs with the exception of the area
in front of the North Tower received the same roof system.
The design of the green roof, which consisted of vegetation and a growing medium
planted over a waterproofing membrane, was installed on the lower roof above the
hospital lobby.
The work began in late 2011 and
was completed August 2012.
