Facilities Management Historic Preservation Architect Jody Lahendro gave a PowerPoint Presentation to Facility Coordinators at their fall meeting on October 8, 2012.

Facility coordinators are staff members appointed for each school, department or building by the dean or department head, to coordinate the provision of services with Facilities Management.

Landscape Crew Working on the Lawn at the University of Virginia Academical Village Restoration a Summer of Projects for Facilities Management

The Rotunda will see roof and exterior repairs, and the Lawn turf will be replaced.

For the Lawn and Range, chimney repairs are to be made, along with the installation of fire suppression sprinkler systems.

Landscape Superintendent Rich Hopkins said the loss of two trees--in Northridge and Law School parking lots--were the only major issues.

Stephan P. Nelson, supervisory senior project manager with Facilities Management, Facilities Planning and Construction, received the Samuel R. Crockett Award for his "significant efforts toward strengthening the relationship between the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia's College at Wise.

Samuel R. Crockett, Jr., was instrumental in early efforts to establish a University of Virginia branch campus in Wise, Virginia. (May 22, 2012)

Tradesmen Jon Marston (L) and Page Fox are part of several Facilities Management teams which execute the setup of the largest annual event at the University.

On May 9 a sprinkler line was accidentally cut during the removal of old HVAC ductwork from a congested ceiling area at the Multistory Building.

Project Services trades effectively handled an emergency situation to minimize the impact. (May 9, 2012)

Biomass Fuel Sample Collection at UVa Heat Plant Facilities Management Initiates Test of Biomass Fuel for Heat Plant

Based on the findings in a renewable fuel study conducted for UVa's Main Heat Plant, Facilities Management Energy & Utilities Director Cheryl Gomez supported the study's recommendation to conduct a pilot test substituting a portion of the coal feed with wood pellets. (March 19-April 11, 2012)
