Energy Day 2007

Energy Day will be held at the University of Virginia, Newcomb Hall Ballroom, on October 12, 2007 from 10am until 3pm. Plans include displays of practical ways to save energy at home and at work, energy efficient lighting, efficient heating and cooling, and ways to get involved.

Displays and Information Booths
Vendors, researchers, student organizations and professional organizations will be on hand to provide information on a variety of topics from energy efficient lighting to sustainable building practices.
Green Grounds Group and Student Environmental Action will provide a light bulb exchange! Turn in an incandescent light bulb and receive a FREE, energy efficient, CFL. Virginia Sustainable Building Network and VA Division of Mines, Minerals and Energy will match the number of lamps available for exchange.

The Impact of Buildings on Climate Change, and a Response from the ecoMOD Project

John teaches architectural design studios, building technology courses and photography in the Department of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. He is the Project Director for—ecoMOD —an interdisciplinary design / build / evaluate project focused on ecologically based modular housing for low income families.
John is a LEED Accredited Professional
of the U.S. Green Building Council. His research interests include climate responsive design, energy and water efficient buildings and environmental criteria.

Conserving Energy Daily

Paul is the Energy Programs Manager
for the University of Virginia and is
responsible for energy and sustainability
projects at the University. He has 27
years design, energy conservation,
pollution prevention, and process
efficiency experience. He is a registered
professional engineer and Certified Energy
Manager.
